80's Teen Icon Died From An Apparent Overdose Wednesday

Corey Haim, 80's teen icon best known for starring in the movie Lost Boys and his highly publicized struggle with drugs, died from an apparent overdose Wednesday. Haim's bad boy image kept him in the tabloids and eventually out of Hollywood, and as many teen stars do, he eventually succumbed to the high pressures of stardom and his own demons.
I wonder if Haim had been exposed to the stellar adolescent addiction treatment centers we have today if he would have come to this tragic end. Teen drug treatment today is highly specialized in dealing with the unique nature of teen drug addiction, and teens and their families today are fortunate to have access to such remarkable support. It makes me really sad to see someone who, regardless of their celebrity status, suffered from addiction like I suffered, but didn't make it to the other side. Rest in peace, Corey.
