Adolescent Day School in Dallas

One of the most important factors for adolescents is their need for education, but those who are struggling with mental health issues, emotional traumas, behavioral problems and addictive behaviors may reject the mainstream learning environment. At Visions Adolescent Treatment Centers, we provide an adolescent day school so that residents can facilitate their education while simultaneously progressing through treatment.

The Visions Day School is located in Los Angeles, CA and provides a safe learning environment for teens in recovery. Our staff of certified teachers and tutors are dedicated to individual student learning so that residents can create a renewed quality of life outside of our facility.

Features of Visions Day School

The adolescent day school benefits residents at Visions due to its curriculum structure, which is designed to focus on cognitive and emotional growth. Additionally, the teachers who administer these programs understand the adversities faced by the students and adapt their lesson plans in order to effectively communicate with each student. Part of our goal in offering a day school is to help residents transition into an independent and meaningful way of life, and we do that by strengthening our students’ self-awareness and improving their confidence. Many of the students who graduate from Visions Day School even go on to obtain degrees at colleges and universities.

The Visions Day School offers numerous benefits for students, including:

  • WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) Accreditation
  • Transferrable credits to other schools
  • Three-to- one student-teacher ratio
  • One-on- one instruction
  • Individual counseling sessions
  • Personalized educational planning
  • Random weekly drug testing

Students can also enroll in a wide spectrum of courses, anywhere from remedial to honors level, and they have direct access to teachers if they need assistance during class or outside of school. A specific educational plan is created for each student based on individual need and the information gathered during various evaluations. If students need additional help, tutoring services and after-school hours are available.

The Educators at Visions

Each one of the teachers and tutors at Visions is dedicated to the success of their students. They provide individualized lesson plans for those who are struggling and invest themselves in helping their students achieve academic goals. Because the student-teacher ratio is so small, our educators are better able to adapt their teaching style to the specific student they are working with, giving that student a sense of accomplishment and increasing their chances of success. Additionally, all of our teachers hold counseling certifications or degrees, making them suitable for providing emotional support in their learning environment while also encouraging every student’s personal growth.

A typical school day will start at 9:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. Each day will include up to four periods for an hour at a time, including one study hall period every morning. Physical education is provided once a week, and students are permitted to take one break in between classes.

Day School Counseling

Along with the educational platform provided within Visions Day School, students will also participate in one individual counseling session per week. Certified counselors initiate each session and discuss with students any issues they may be having during school as well as their progress through their classes. Counseling allows students to have an open discussion about their education so that the Visions staff can make any necessary adjustments to their educational plan. Additionally, students will undergo weekly and random drug tests to ensure a safe learning environment for all students.

Our Objective

The goal of adolescent day school is to provide a safe learning environment that also couples the therapeutic approach of each resident’s treatment. A curriculum that is clinically supported enhances the student’s recovery and improves their ability to learn. When treatment and education are provided in a way that aligns specifically with a resident’s outlook, beliefs and goals, they are likely to finish treatment successfully.

Some of our residents are only in our facility for a short period of time, in which case we use the day school to help students make a healthy transition into a mainstream school environment by helping them make up any work they may have missed due to personal circumstances. Other students are enrolled for longer periods and may receive college prep courses for their next level of advancement. In this case, our teachers provide SAT preparation as well as assistance filling out formal college applications.

Overall, Visions Day School can provide a foundation that only enhances the therapeutic treatment residents are already receiving. Once their treatment is complete, residents are more prepared for everyday interactions and have learned the necessary skills required for a positive and healthy lifestyle.
